The two terms Self Join and Equi Join in SQL need to be differentiated by looking at the count of tables involved in the procedure like Self Join requires only one table while most Equi join is a condition used in the join predicate. Since Equi Join is based on the condition for comparison, it can occur in any INNER, OUTER, or SELF join in SQL.
