Go to Python.org and click the link for the Windows executables to get them:
https://www.python.org/downloads/windows/
After downloading, open command prompt and check whether path variables are added or not by typing the command ‘python’. When this command is entered, the prompt looks in the PATH variable for an executable file with the same name as the command. If the required file is not found, it responds with an error message stating “Python is not recognized as an internal or external command”.
We can overcome this error by adding the executable file’s directory to the PATH variable. The steps are as follows:
1. Type ‘Edit the system environment variables’ in the search bar and open it.
2. Click on the ‘Advanced’ system settings in the menu at the top.
3. Click on ‘Environment Variables’ button at the bottom right.
4. Select the PATH variable and then click ‘Edit’ in the System variables section. All of the directories that are currently included in the PATH variable will be displayed on the following screen.
5. Enter the Python installation directory after clicking ‘New’.
Try running the python –version command once more, it will output the version of Python that is currently installed on your system.
