Well, depending on the distribution chosen Linux can be user-friendly for Windows users, some distributions such as Mint and different flavours of Ubuntu have GUIs that seem to look and behave like that of Windows, however, if you are willing to learn more about it, some distros like Arch and Gentoo will give more power in your hand, but are slightly advanced to work on.
For Non-Programmers, The only issue Linux might present is for playing games.
Not all present games are made to work on Linux and might need a Windows emulator on Linux itself. Other than that, it is a powerful OS.
