Earning from YouTube is totally depends upon your creativity and the way you represent or elaborate your content.
If you want success on YouTube then you need to be master of your content category, many people’s blame their low budget set-up but set-up is just a myth. If have good knowledge of your content with good explanation techniques then your audience will watch you even if you upload videos in 144p.
You also need to flow with the trend, you need to change your way of representation time to time, using trending things have higher change to get more views. Like in today’s time mostly people likes to watch Short Videos, its true that we can’t explain everything in 15-30 sec but in this time you can make hype in viewers mind that can convence them to watch your full video.
Recently YouTube updates their Monetization policy i.e. Anyone with at least 500 subscribers can now apply for the monetization program, provided they have uploaded at least three public videos in the last 90 days with a minimum of 3,000 watch hours or 3 million short views. but note that with this you can only apply for YPP but your income will under there regularly policy.
Not the least but important, You need to be Regular in uploading content, if you fullfill all other criteria & don’t maintain regularity then it make no sense.
Now come to your question, yes you can consider YouTube to earn money. You can also earn money from social media platforms by advertising.
But if you try to earn in the category you are best in it, that give you the better results than YouTube, it’s just my personal opinion. Take better decision according to your skills.

If we talk about Elon Musk statement, then I’m little bit confused because Elon Musk is one of them who fund the Fund the Chat-GPT developers i.e. OpenAI, but after releasing he said it’s dangerous, it need to be stopped.
As we know Elon Musk is well minded Businessman, he knows the loop holes to make changes in the market. If you remember then there was a time when a Single Tweet of Elon Musk can increase or decrease the price of Bitcoins, from here we can imagine how sharp minded he is.
